African Bird Fair at Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.
Friends of Free Wildlife were once again “on show” at the African Bird Fair at Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.
And as usual it was a great success for all the participants, whether a stall holder or a visitor there was lots to see and buy and also great talks by different experts in their particular fields.
Free Wildlife Volunteers enjoyed the time spent chatting to many members of the public and telling them about our lovely FFW Centre and what we do.
15th July 2017
The Inaugural Free Wildlife Trail Run at Country Club Johannesburg, Woodmead Golf Course.
Held on Saturday 15th July 2017
A beautiful sunny winter’s day in Johannesburg and a great late afternoon Trail Run was held at CCJ, an 8.4km trail run and a 5km fun run\walk
What a wonderful venue and great views of the superb golf courses.
Some of our FFW volunteers, Janice, Jackie and Lauren were marshals and after the runs were remarking on the amazing birds they had seen.
A good turnout of all ages and quite a few family groups with Mums and Dads helping the kids run and walk the 5km trail.
And in fact our first runner home was a youngster of 12 years!
The 8km runners had a bonus .4kms added on to their run, whew!
After the fun of the runs we had the Gluwein and soups to look forward to, and they were an instant hit. This is definitely a “we must do this again” event; please watch our events diary for the next in the series.
13th July 2017
On 13th July Free Wildlife held their 2nd Quiz Night, this time at the Morningside Country Club in Rivonia and coordinated by Marion Heaney.
Another great success, our total profit was R11,500
Our quiz master was once again Rickus from Trivia51 Quiz Night entertainment; and once again he had everyone searching for the right answers!
Thank you to all our friends and supporters, attending this Quiz were the great team of vets from Bryanston Avian, Exotic and Small Animal Clinic, Jean, Perushan and Melissa with Vanessa Papas and Irene McKenzie. Other FFW volunteers quizzing were Kevin Pearl and Kevin Coetzee with their teams.
